IDF Says Over 10 Hezbollah Field Commanders Killed in Recent Operations
The IDF said on Monday that it has killed more than 10 Hezbollah field commanders in recent operations, including senior commanders and replacements appointed after previous leaders were eliminated. According to the military, more than 1,300 Hezbollah operatives have been killed since the ceasefire began, across several areas in Lebanon.
Among those killed was Nasser Salama, commander of Hezbollah’s "Nasser" unit. The IDF said that within less than two months of his death, his two replacements were also killed, Mehdi Bazzi and Ashraf Saloum. It also said that within less than 12 hours, it killed Sheikh sector commander Nasser Shakir and his replacement, Ahmad Sbalini, who had previously served as his deputy and was appointed after Shakir’s death.
The army said these strikes caused significant damage to Hezbollah’s command chain. It also identified other senior field commanders killed recently as Ali Abbas, commander of the Bint Jbeil sector, Kamil Younes, commander of the Tyre sector, Fouad Moussa, commander of the Hajiir sector, Hussein Salami, commander of the Jebsheet sector, Ali Hichai, commander of the al-Khiyam sector, and Maslam Harb, commander of the Cana sector.
The IDF said it would continue targeting Hezbollah commanders, whom it described as directly responsible for directing fire at Israeli civilians and IDF forces.
