IDF Says It Has Struck Hezbollah’s Command Chain Hard
The IDF said Friday that it has killed more than 10 Hezbollah field commanders in recent operations, targeting officers who directed attacks against Israeli forces and the State of Israel. Among the most prominent was the commander of the Nasr unit, Hajj Salama.
Less than two months after Salama was killed, the IDF said it eliminated both of his replacements in succession, Mehdi Bazzi and Ashraf Saloum. In a separate sequence lasting less than 12 hours, it killed the commander of the Shakif sector, Nasser Shakir, and then his successor, Ahmad Sbalini, who had served as deputy before being appointed to replace him.
The army also named several other senior commanders it says were killed recently, including Ali Abbas, commander of the Bint Jbeil sector; Kamil Younes, commander of the Tyre sector; Fouad Mousa, commander of the Hajjir sector; Hussein Salami, commander of the Jebsheet sector; Ali Hai, commander of the Al-Khiam sector; and Maslam Harb, commander of the Cana sector.
The IDF said it will continue striking Hezbollah commanders, whom it described as directly responsible for directing fire at Israeli civilians and IDF troops.
