IDF says it killed 11 Hezbollah field commanders in recent operations
The Israel Defense Forces said it has killed 11 Hezbollah field commanders in recent periods, including replacements appointed after earlier commanders were eliminated. The military also said that since the ceasefire took effect, more than 1,300 Hezbollah operatives have been killed in Lebanon.
According to an IDF statement, among the key figures killed was the commander of Hezbollah’s “Naser” unit, Hajj Salama. Within less than two months of his killing, the IDF said it struck both of his successors in sequence, Mahdi Bazi and Ashraf Saloum.
The army also said that in less than 12 hours it killed the commander of the “Shakif” sector, Nasser Shakir, and then his replacement, Ahmad Sablini. The IDF said Sablini had previously served as Shakir’s deputy before being appointed to replace him.
