Israeli Reservist Charged with Espionage for Iran After Contact with Foreign Agent

An Israeli citizen who served in both regular and reserve duty in a classified military unit has been charged with espionage for attempting to pass information to an enemy. The investigation, conducted by the Lahav 433 National Fraud Unit (YAMAR) and the Shin Bet in coordination with the Ministry of Defense, revealed that the suspect maintained contact with an individual claiming to be an Iranian intelligence agent. At one point, the suspect was asked to assist in recruiting a soldier to establish further contact with these Iranian operatives. On Wednesday, the Tel Aviv District Court authorized the publication of the indictment, which the State Prosecutor's Office filed on July 16. Further details are expected to be released soon.
