A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Gedera was killed late Thursday night in a hit-and-run crash on the road between Yokneam and Eliakim, in northern Israel. The collision happened around 1:00 a.m., and the rider was critically injured before being pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the striking vehicle fled immediately after the accident. Police later found a car burning near the crash site, and investigators suspect the driver set it on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The police have opened a broad investigation into the circumstances of the fatal crash, and the suspect is expected to remain in custody.
