Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Highway 6; Suspect Arrested After Car Was Set on Fire

A young man from Gedera was killed overnight in a fatal hit-and-run on Highway 6 northbound, between the Elyakim and Yokneam interchanges. Emergency calls about a severe crash came in at around 1:00 a.m., and police later determined it was a deadly hit-and-run.

When officers reached the scene, they found a private car burning a short distance away. Police suspect the driver struck the motorcyclist, set his vehicle on fire in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence, and fled on foot. Northern District police carried out a rapid investigation and arrested the suspect shortly afterward.

Traffic investigators collected evidence at the scene, took statements from multiple witnesses and opened a formal inquiry into both the crash and the arson. Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah teams arrived to find the motorcyclist lying by the roadside with severe, multi-system injuries.

MDA senior medic Zohar Rotzvi said, "We saw the motorcyclist lying by the side of the road, unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing, with very serious injuries to his body. We performed medical checks, but unfortunately his injuries were severe and all we could do was pronounce him dead." United Hatzalah medics Chaim Atia and Yaakov Gelbman said they began resuscitation efforts, but he was declared dead at the scene.
