Deadly Day on the Roads: 4 Killed in 4 Crashes in the North and South

Four people were killed on Thursday in road accidents. Three of the crashes took place in the north and one in the south. Police are investigating the circumstances of the accidents.

On Highway 4 near the Ofer Junction in the Hof Carmel area, a female driver in her 50s was killed when her car overturned. The report of the crash was received at the MDA 101 hotline in the Sharon region at 9:43 p.m. Medics and paramedics reported that the driver was found with no signs of life, with a head injury, and they were forced to pronounce her dead at the scene. Paramedic Asil A'aridi and medic Victor Golts said, "We saw an overturned car with an unconscious woman trapped inside, without a pulse and without breathing, with very severe head trauma. We carried out medical examinations, but unfortunately her injuries were significant."

Earlier, footballer Wiam Awad, 19, from Shfaram, was killed when a car struck the motorcycle he was riding on Highway 77 near Beit Rimon. The report of the accident was received at the MDA 101 hotline in the Jordan region at 6:47 p.m. Medics and paramedics pronounced dead the motorcycle rider, who suffered multi-system trauma. Medics Ofir Aslan, Tzvika Larer and Avi Raymond said, "We saw the motorcycle rider lying unconscious on the roadside, suffering severe injuries to his body after being hit by a vehicle. We carried out medical examinations, but unfortunately his injuries were significant."

In the morning, Ammar Altorshan, 20, from the Bedouin diaspora in the Negev, was killed in a traffic accident involving two vehicles near the Lahav Nature Reserve. The report of the crash was received at the MDA 101 hotline in the Negev region at 10:50 a.m. Medical teams performed resuscitation efforts on the young man, and he was evacuated in critical condition to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. Shortly afterward, doctors had to pronounce him dead. A 24-year-old man was moderately injured in the accident. Emergency medical responder Razek Altouri said, "One of the injured was sitting in the car unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing, with multi-system trauma. We began providing medical treatment that included resuscitation efforts and evacuated him in an intensive care ambulance to the hospital in critical condition."

In the early morning, Daniel Saleh, 25, from Jisr az-Zarqa, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 70 near the Yasif Junction. Another young man who was in the vehicle was moderately injured. Saleh was evacuated in critical condition to a hospital, but he was later pronounced dead. Traffic investigators from the police's Asher District opened an investigation into the crash.
