IDF Secures Hezbollah Stronghold in Bint Jbeil, Destroys Historic Stadium Symbolizing Nasrallah's Threats

Twenty years after the Second Lebanon War and 26 years since Hassan Nasrallah's infamous "Spider Web" speech, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have completed a significant military operation in southern Lebanon. Units from the 98th and 91st Divisions encircled and gained full operational control over Hezbollah strongholds in Bint Jbeil and the village of Ainata. The operation, named "Roar of the Lion," involved the destruction of the local stadium where Nasrallah delivered his 1997 speech predicting Israel's collapse.

During the campaign, IDF forces destroyed over 1,500 terrorist infrastructures and eliminated more than 500 armed Hezbollah militants. The swift ground maneuver by the 98th Division secured Bint Jbeil within about a week, targeting Hezbollah's extensive terror networks embedded within civilian areas. The 91st Division subsequently entered the area to consolidate control and continue systematic clearing operations to prevent Hezbollah from reestablishing its presence.

The operation holds deep historical and emotional significance for both Israelis and Lebanese. Nasrallah's speech, delivered shortly after Israel's withdrawal from the security zone in 2000, was a symbolic moment of defiance against Israel. By demolishing the stadium, the IDF erased a prominent symbol of Hezbollah's propaganda. The forces also uncovered advanced weaponry, including anti-tank missiles, launchers, large ammunition depots, and fortified command centers deliberately concealed within civilian buildings to use locals as human shields.

The ongoing efforts aim to eliminate immediate threats to northern Israeli communities and deny Hezbollah the ability to rebuild its military capabilities near the border in the foreseeable future. Following the completion of their mission in Bint Jbeil, the 98th Division has moved on to other combat sectors in southern Lebanon, while the 91st Division continues clearing operations in the area.

This operation underscores the scale of Hezbollah's military entrenchment in civilian areas and Israel's determination to dismantle these networks comprehensively.
