IDF Secures Hezbollah Stronghold in Bint Jbeil After Intense Operations in Second Lebanon War
On the 20th anniversary of the Second Lebanon War, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released details and footage of their operations in Bint Jbeil, a town in southern Lebanon long regarded as a central Hezbollah terrorist stronghold. The IDF's 98th Division entered Bint Jbeil and achieved operational control within about a week. Their mission focused on destroying terrorist infrastructure, neutralizing anti-tank threats, and eliminating militants. After completing their objectives, the 98th Division moved to other sectors.
Simultaneously, the 91st Division entered the area to consolidate and strengthen operational control. Together, the 91st and 98th Divisions have destroyed over 1,500 terrorist infrastructures and killed more than 500 militants. During the operations, hundreds of weapons and military assets were discovered embedded within civilian infrastructure, including terrorist command centers, launchers, and weapons depots.
The 91st Division continues efforts to complete the destruction of remaining terrorist infrastructure and to clear the area of threats to Israel. These operations were part of the IDF's broader "Operation Defensive Shield" campaign to secure Israel's northern border and eliminate Hezbollah's capabilities in southern Lebanon.
