IDF Destroys Over 1,500 Hezbollah Terror Sites in Dramatic Operation in Bint Jbeil

Twenty years after the Second Lebanon War, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a major operation in Bint Jbeil, a town in southern Lebanon known as a Hezbollah stronghold. The operation aimed to dismantle Hezbollah’s terror infrastructure and neutralize threats posed by the group’s rocket fire towards Israel. Bint Jbeil holds symbolic significance as a center of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, notably hosting Hassan Nasrallah’s famous "Spider Web" speech in May 2000 at the local football stadium.

During the operation, the IDF’s 98th Division gained operational control of the town within about a week, destroying more than 1,500 terror-related facilities and eliminating over 500 militants. The forces uncovered command centers, launchers, and weapons caches embedded within civilian infrastructure. The 91st Division has continued efforts to clear remaining terror infrastructure and secure the area.

Lieutenant Colonel N, commander of the 401st Brigade, told N12 that "everything used by the enemy has been destroyed," emphasizing that any site used to launch attacks against Israeli civilians will face similar destruction. The operation also recalled the intense battles of the 2006 Lebanon War, including the heroic act of Captain Roi Klein, who sacrificed himself to save comrades during fighting in Bint Jbeil.

The IDF’s recent actions reflect ongoing efforts to prevent Hezbollah from threatening northern Israel and to maintain security along the border region. The military continues to operate in other sectors to consolidate control and eliminate remaining threats.
