IDF Opposes Elor Azaria's Request to Expunge Criminal Record, Position Sent to Defense Minister
Following Elor Azaria's request to have his criminal record expunged, Defense Minister Israel Katz submitted a supporting opinion. However, the IDF spokesperson stated that the request should not be granted. According to IDF procedures, the review of a pardon or expungement request involves three military bodies: the Military Advocate General's Corps, the Personnel Directorate, and the Chief of Staff. After considering all relevant factors, the IDF's position is that the circumstances do not justify expunging Azaria's criminal record. This official stance has been forwarded to the Defense Minister for final consideration.
