Israeli Border Police Officer Investigated for Throwing Stun Grenade into Vehicle in Qalandiya
The Police Investigations Department opened an inquiry on Monday into an Israeli Border Police officer caught on video throwing a stun grenade into a vehicle carrying passengers in Qalandiya. The footage shows the officer approaching the car, engaging in a loud confrontation with its occupants, then throwing the grenade inside and pressing on the driver's door to prevent exit until the explosion.
Separately, on Sunday night, 16-year-old Israeli Arab Nidal Abu Sanina was shot and killed by Border Police officers near Qalandiya and Kafr Aqab. The Border Police stated the shooting occurred during a violent disturbance involving multiple suspects throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at the officers from various rooftops and locations. They claimed the officers fired to neutralize a suspect identified as throwing stones who posed a life-threatening danger.
Additionally, the Police Investigations Department is probing a separate incident where an officer kicked a Haredi protester in the head; the officer was released. Meanwhile, an indictment was filed against a Jewish rioter involved in an attack on the village of Hawara.
