Israeli Border Police Shoot Dead 16-Year-Old Arab Suspected of Stone Throwing in Qalandiya
Nidal Abu Sanina, a 16-year-old Israeli Arab, was shot and killed by Israeli Border Police officers on Sunday evening in the Qalandiya and Kafr Aqab area. According to the Border Police, the shooting occurred during a violent disturbance where officers were subjected to a heavy barrage of stones thrown from multiple rooftops and locations. The forces also faced Molotov cocktails during the incident. The Border Police stated that they identified Abu Sanina as one of the suspects actively throwing stones and fired to neutralize the threat, claiming the officers felt their lives were in danger.
Following the shooting, footage circulated online showing the police operation in the area, moments after the shooting, as well as scenes from the teenager's funeral. The incident highlights ongoing tensions and confrontations in the Qalandiya region between Israeli security forces and Palestinian residents. In related news, a separate indictment was filed against a West Bank farm owner who attacked Palestinians, and an IDF soldier was evacuated from a Palestinian town near Hebron after an incident.
