Israeli Forces Arrest 16-Year-Old Palestinian for Attempted Deadly Attack in Gush Etzion

A 16-year-old Palestinian from the village of Nahalin was arrested over the weekend after attempting to carry out a deadly attack in the Israeli settlement of Neve Daniel in the Gush Etzion area. The youth was apprehended by the settlement's security officer and military forces after trying to infiltrate the community. Initially, he claimed he was thirsty and searching for water, but during interrogation, he confessed to planning to stab an Israeli soldier and die as a martyr.

The suspect guided investigators along the route he intended to take for the attack and showed them the location where he had hidden a kitchen knife under a metal bench, which he had taken from his home. The police are expected to request an extension of his detention as the investigation continues.

This incident follows a recent similar attack attempt near Jerusalem, where security forces neutralized a knife-wielding assailant by shooting him in the lower body, preventing casualties among Israeli forces. These events highlight ongoing security challenges in the region.
