Israeli Border Police Officer Investigated and Suspended Over Flashbang Incident in Qalandiya

An Israeli Border Police officer was investigated under warning by the Police Investigations Department after footage surfaced showing him throwing a stun grenade into a Palestinian vehicle in Qalandiya without allowing the driver to exit. The video, which spread on social media, depicts the officer engaging in a verbal altercation with the Palestinian driver, telling him to "shut up" before throwing the grenade inside the car. The officer physically prevented the driver from leaving the vehicle before the grenade detonated, while other passengers escaped through a different door.

Following the investigation, the officer was suspended from his unit for eight days and was prohibited from contacting those involved. The Israeli Police stated that the officer's actions were inconsistent with regulations and confirmed the incident was referred to the Police Investigations Department, declining further comment.

This incident highlights concerns over the conduct of security forces during operations in the West Bank, particularly in sensitive areas like Qalandiya. The investigation and disciplinary measures indicate an official response to the controversial use of force captured on video.
