Man Charged With Murder After Stabbing and Burning Victim on Coastal Road

The State Prosecutor's Office has filed a murder indictment against 46-year-old Emil Avshaib for the killing of Yoav Gilboa. According to the indictment, Avshaib stabbed Gilboa 59 times during an incident on the Coastal Road, then fled the scene. Avshaib and three family members are accused of obstructing justice by attempting to destroy evidence, including burning Gilboa's body and cleaning the vehicle used in the crime.

On the day of the murder, Avshaib and Gilboa were traveling together in Avshaib's car when Gilboa stopped and exited the vehicle. Avshaib continued driving but later returned to the location where Gilboa was hitchhiking. Avshaib then stopped, took a sharp object, and stabbed Gilboa multiple times, leaving him on the roadside. After fleeing to his home in Hadera, Avshaib's son helped clean the car to remove traces of the crime.

Later that night, Avshaib and Ruslan Abramov, the partner of Avshaib's sister, bought gasoline and returned to the murder site to set Gilboa's body on fire to eliminate evidence. The following morning, Avshaib's sister, Ela Avshaib, and her partner further cleaned the vehicle. The investigation was conducted by the Coastal District Unit of the Israeli Police.

Emil Avshaib faces charges including intentional murder under aggravating circumstances, arson, obstruction of justice, driving without a valid license, and driving without insurance. The three family members are charged with arson and obstruction of justice related to their roles in the case.
