Arab Man Charged for Hit-and-Run Death of Israeli Reservist on Highway 6
A serious indictment was filed against a 40-year-old Arab man from Umm al-Fahm for fatally hitting Israeli reservist Staff Sergeant Adiso Woba on Highway 6 near Yokneam on July 12. After the collision, the suspect fled the scene without providing aid, set his vehicle on fire about 200 meters from the accident site, and falsely reported to police that his car had been stolen.
Emergency responders found Woba critically injured on his motorcycle and pronounced him dead at the scene. Woba was returning home to southern Israel after active service in the northern sector. Police investigations, including witness testimonies and video evidence, linked the suspect to the accident and the arson. The suspect’s speed was estimated at approximately 132 km/h, exceeding legal limits.
The indictment charges the suspect with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, negligent homicide, evidence destruction, obstruction of justice, providing false information, reckless and negligent driving, and driving above the speed limit. The prosecution has requested his detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
