Israeli Police Charge Man for Hit-and-Run Killing Reservist Adiso Woba on Highway 6

The Northern District Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against a 40-year-old resident of Umm al-Fahm for a fatal hit-and-run accident involving reservist Adiso Woba on June 12. The incident occurred early morning on Highway 6 near Yokneam, where the suspect allegedly struck Woba, who was riding a motorcycle, then abandoned him at the scene. After the collision, the suspect reportedly set his vehicle on fire to destroy evidence and falsely reported the car stolen to police.

Emergency responders found Woba critically injured and later pronounced him dead at the scene. Woba, a first sergeant in reserve duty, was returning home to southern Israel after active service in the north. Initial police investigations included eyewitness accounts of the suspect igniting the car involved in the crash. Traffic investigators gathered evidence over several weeks indicating the suspect's involvement and that he fled the scene. The suspect's speed was estimated at approximately 132 km/h, exceeding legal limits.

The indictment accuses the suspect of leaving the scene after causing death by negligence, destroying evidence, obstructing justice, providing false information, reckless and negligent driving, and speeding. The prosecution has requested to keep him in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings. Israeli police emphasized the seriousness of hit-and-run offenses and their commitment to enforcing laws to protect public safety and prevent drivers from abandoning accident victims.
