Man Charged with Murder and Arson in Brutal Killing of Yoav Gelboah in Israel
The Haifa District Prosecutor's Office has filed a serious indictment against 46-year-old Emil Avshaib for the murder of Yoav Gelboah. According to the indictment, Avshaib picked up Gelboah hitchhiking on the Coastal Road, then stabbed him 59 times until he died. After fleeing the scene to Hadera, Avshaib informed his son David, and together they began cleaning the car to destroy evidence.
Later that evening, Avshaib and Ruslan Abramov, the partner of Avshaib's sister Ela, purchased gasoline. In the early hours of the next day, Avshaib and Abramov returned to the murder site, poured gasoline on Gelboah's body, and set it on fire in an attempt to conceal the crime. Subsequently, Ela Avshaib and Abramov also cleaned Emil Avshaib's car again to further cover up evidence.
In addition to Avshaib, indictments were filed against three family members: his son David, his sister Ela, and her partner Abramov, for aiding in evidence concealment and obstructing justice. Emil Avshaib faces charges of aggravated murder, arson, obstruction of justice, and traffic violations including driving without a license or insurance. The family members are charged with arson and obstruction of justice related to their roles in the case.
