Man Arrested for Arson and Vandalism in Ar'ara BaNegev Family Dispute

A man in his 30s from Ar'ara BaNegev was indicted on Monday at the Beersheba District Court for setting fire to a vehicle as an act of revenge. The incident occurred about a month ago following a mass brawl in Ar'ara BaNegev, during which participants rammed vehicles and threw stones at police, who responded with gunfire. Subsequently, police received a report of a car arson linked to a family feud.

The suspect allegedly rammed the complainant's home gate multiple times with his vehicle until it fell, drove into the yard, damaged the complainant's wife's car by smashing its windows with a hammer, and later returned to ignite a burning bag on the driver's seat before fleeing on foot. The Chevrolet car sustained heavy damage estimated at approximately 170,000 shekels.

Police investigators collected evidence, documented the damage, and arrested the suspect, whose detention was extended repeatedly. Police sources noted a 50% decrease in arson incidents and a 23% drop in shootings compared to the previous year. Chief Investigator Hananel Sklar of the Ar'ara BaNegev station emphasized the thoroughness of the investigation and vowed to pursue full legal action against the accused in this serious family-related violence case.
