Man Arrested for Allegedly Arson of Cement Mixer, Truck in Beit She'an
Israeli police have arrested a 33-year-old man from the village of Nain on suspicion of intentionally setting fire to a truck and a cement mixer in Beit She'an's industrial zone. The incident, which occurred on August 15, 2026, resulted in damages estimated at approximately 700,000 shekels.
Firefighters responded to the initial report of flames at a truck stop in the industrial area and managed to control the blaze. Investigations revealed that the fire was deliberately set using flammable material. Investigators collected surveillance footage from numerous cameras, which captured a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident arriving shortly before the fire broke out.
Further investigation, including tracking the suspect vehicle's movements, led authorities to a gas station in northern Israel. Security footage from the station showed the suspect filling fuel containers in plain view before heading to the scene of the arson.
The suspect was apprehended on August 24, 2026, and his detention has been extended multiple times. The Northern District Public Prosecution is expected to file an indictment against him, along with a request to extend his remand until the legal proceedings are concluded.
