Man Arrested for Arson at Beit She'an Commercial Center

A 65-year-old resident of Beit She'an was arrested this week on suspicion of setting fire to a cardboard collection point in a commercial center in the city, causing tens of thousands of shekels in damage. The suspect was taken for questioning by the Northern District Police, and a court ordered his detention extended. The incident occurred last Tuesday when police and fire services received a report of a cardboard collection point ablaze in a commercial center parking lot in Beit She'an. Firefighters extinguished the flames, but the damage was significant, with the collection point completely destroyed and nearby trailers filled with goods also damaged. Following the firefighting efforts, Northern District detectives began investigating the circumstances of the fire. Forensic investigators examined the scene and collected evidence, while security camera footage of the area was reviewed. The video showed a suspect igniting the fire that caused extensive damage. The following day, after intensive investigative work, police located and arrested the 65-year-old suspect. His detention has been extended periodically by the court, and prosecutors have filed an indictment against him, along with a request for continued detention until the legal proceedings are concluded at the Nazareth-Jalil District Court.
