Man Filmed Filling Gas Cans Arrested for Arson of Concrete Mixer

A 33-year-old resident of the village of Einin has been arrested on suspicion of setting fire to a concrete mixer valued at approximately NIS 700,000 in a truck lot in the Beit She'an industrial zone. Northern District prosecutors are expected to file an indictment and a request for detention until the end of legal proceedings against him on Thursday. The incident occurred on the night of August 15, 2026, after police received a report of a truck on fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle sustained severe damage.

Investigators from the Northern District Police, working with a fire investigator, determined the fire was not accidental but deliberately set using flammable material. Reviewing dozens of security camera recordings from the area, investigators identified a suspicious vehicle near the lot shortly before the fire. Tracing the vehicle's route led them to gas station footage in the north, where the suspect was clearly seen filling gas cans. Police described this footage as the "golden evidence" in the investigation.

The investigation became public on August 24 with the suspect's arrest. His detention has been extended periodically as investigators compiled evidence for the prosecution. Police stated they will continue to act against criminals who endanger public safety and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
