Man Charged with Arson of $190,000 Concrete Mixer
Police announced Thursday they would file charges against a 33-year-old man from the village of Neen for allegedly setting fire to a concrete mixer valued at approximately 700,000 shekels (around $190,000 USD). The incident occurred on August 15, 2026, when fire services responded to a blaze at a truck parking lot in the industrial zone of Beit She'an. Investigators from the Northern District Police, working with a fire investigator, determined the fire was intentionally set.
Surveillance footage from the scene and a nearby gas station reportedly captured the suspect filling containers with fuel shortly before the mixer caught fire. Police arrested the suspect on August 24, 2026. His detention has been extended multiple times as the investigation proceeded.
The Northern District Prosecutor's Office is set to file the indictment on Thursday and will request that the suspect be held in custody until the legal proceedings are concluded.
