Maccabi Tel Aviv Optimistic About Signing Guard Yam Madar

Maccabi Tel Aviv officials have expressed strong optimism about signing 25-year-old guard Yam Madar, who recently became a free agent after activating his contract option. Following discussions between Madar and Maccabi coach Oded Katash, Madar conveyed his interest in playing under Katash. The club is now working to bridge a relatively small financial gap between their offer and Madar's demands.

Madar's representatives confirmed ongoing talks with Maccabi Tel Aviv but noted that no final agreement has been reached. Meanwhile, Hapoel Tel Aviv has offered Madar approximately 2.7 million euros per season, but the player reportedly seeks at least 3.5 million euros. Maccabi Tel Aviv's offer stands at around 2 million dollars per season, coupled with the prospect of increased EuroLeague playing time.

In the previous Israeli Premier League season, Madar averaged 13.2 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists per game, with a significant playoff surge to 19.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, shooting 45.8 percent from three-point range. However, in the EuroLeague, he played 16 games averaging 9.4 minutes, contributing 3.1 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Maccabi Tel Aviv hopes to finalize the deal soon to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.
