Three Teens Swept Away Near Palmachim Beach; One Still Missing Amid Ongoing Search
On Wednesday afternoon, three teenagers were swept away at an unregulated beach near Palmachim. Two of the teens were rescued and did not require medical treatment, but one remains missing as search efforts continue. This incident follows a tragic drowning on Saturday when two 13-year-old girls, Hala Azam and Iman Khir from the village of Abu Snan in the Western Galilee, drowned after being swept away by a current in the Jordan River. Their friend managed to escape the water and alerted rescue teams, who launched extensive search operations. The two girls were found lifeless hours later.
In response to Wednesday's incident, 13 firefighting teams from the Galilee-Golan region and special rescue units from the Northern District were dispatched to the scene. Due to the challenging terrain, the national special rescue unit "Lahav" was also deployed to assist in the search and rescue efforts.
