Hezbollah militant killed after grenade attack in southern Lebanon, four Givati troops wounded

Four Givati Brigade soldiers were wounded overnight, between Thursday and Friday, in an encounter with a Hezbollah operative in the village of Beit Yahoun in southern Lebanon. One soldier was moderately hurt and three others were lightly wounded. All were evacuated to hospital for treatment.

The incident took place around 10 p.m. on Thursday during an operational mission by the 679th Brigade Combat Team in the security zone in Beit Yahoun. According to the report, a Hezbollah terrorist who was inside a building threw a grenade at the forces. Within minutes, the troops returned fire and killed him at the scene.

The wounded included one officer in moderate condition and another officer plus two soldiers in light condition. In response, the 91st Division’s fire brigade struck several terror infrastructures in the area with artillery and airstrikes.

The article also noted recent deadly fighting in the same sector. A week earlier, Sgt. Maj. Nir Ben Ari, a 21-year-old Maglan fighter from Kerem Maharal, was killed in the village of Taybe in the Mount Dov area of southern Lebanon, and 13 other soldiers were wounded. The day before that, four soldiers from Armored Battalion 52 were killed, including commander Lt. Col. Dor Ben Shimhon, Sgt. Yoav Klein, Sgt. Liav Kababia, and Sgt. Naveh Hashash.
