IDF officer and three soldiers wounded in Hezbollah grenade attack in southern Lebanon
Four IDF soldiers were wounded on Thursday night in an encounter with a Hezbollah operative during an operational mission by Brigade 679 in southern Lebanon. One combat officer was moderately injured, while another officer and two additional soldiers were lightly hurt. All four were evacuated to a hospital, and their families were notified.
The incident took place around 10 p.m. in the security zone of Beit Yahoun, in southern Lebanon. According to the report, the Hezbollah operative was inside a building when he threw a grenade at the forces operating in the area. The troops responded within minutes by firing at him, killing him at the scene.
The event was described as another clash in the ongoing security activity in southern Lebanon, where IDF forces continue operating against Hezbollah terror infrastructure. At the same time, the fire brigade of Division 91 struck several terror sites in the area with artillery and air power, in order to prevent further threats to the troops and continue clearing the area of the group’s presence.
The clash comes as IDF operations in southern Lebanon continue alongside negotiations in Washington between Israel and Lebanon mediated by the United States. Israeli security officials have also recently rejected reports about a possible withdrawal of IDF forces from parts of southern Lebanon, saying the army has not received any instructions on the matter from the political leadership.
