Four IDF soldiers wounded in close-range firefight in southern Lebanon
Four Israel Defense Forces servicemen were wounded on Thursday during an operational mission in southern Lebanon, the military said. One combat officer was moderately injured, and another officer and two soldiers sustained light wounds.
The incident happened while IDF troops were searching and operating to destroy Hezbollah terror infrastructure in an area close to the border. During movement in the field, the force encountered an armed militant who opened fire at very close range.
The soldiers returned fire immediately, exchanged gunfire, and neutralized the threat. Medical personnel at the scene provided life-saving first aid soon after the clash.
The wounded were evacuated to a hospital in Israel for continued treatment. The IDF said the families of all four wounded personnel had been informed of the incident and their medical condition.
