Givati Commander Wounded but Leads Troops After Grenade Attack in South Lebanon Clash

Fighting continues in southern Lebanon, presenting complex challenges and fierce encounters for Israeli forces operating there. Last week, near Beit Yahoun in the Bint Jbeil sector, a Givati Brigade unit engaged with a Palestinian militant who opened fire and threw a grenade at the soldiers. The militant was killed by the troops during the clash.

Four Givati soldiers were wounded in the encounter, including the company commander (M.P.), who despite his injuries, continued to lead the unit and coordinate the evacuation of the wounded. Dramatic radio communications released on June 30 reveal the commander reporting the situation, stating, "A militant threw a grenade at me, I was the first. The militant was neutralized."

The commander also directed heavy fire to cover the evacuation of casualties. Meanwhile, fighting persisted on June 29, when a reserve commando soldier was seriously injured during an operational sweep in the village of Arnoun. The soldier was hurt by an explosion while searching a building, with the circumstances under investigation. He was evacuated to a hospital and his family was notified.

These incidents underscore the ongoing intensity of Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon under the command of the 91st Division, as forces continue to confront hostile elements in the area.
