Givati Battalion Commander Wounded but Leads After Militant Attack in South Lebanon
Fighting continues in southern Lebanon, presenting complex challenges and intense clashes for Israeli forces operating there. Last week, near Beit Yehon in the Bint Jbeil sector, a Givati Brigade unit encountered a militant who opened fire and threw a grenade at the soldiers. The militant was killed by the troops. Four Givati fighters were wounded in the engagement, including the company commander (M.P.), who despite his injuries, continued to lead the unit and coordinate the evacuation of the wounded.
Dramatic radio communications released on June 30 reveal the tense moments of the encounter. The commander reported, "A militant threw a grenade at me, I was the first hit. The militant was neutralized." He maintained command under fire, directing heavy return fire to cover the evacuation of casualties.
Separately, on June 29 around 1 p.m., a reserve commando soldier from the Commando Brigade was seriously injured during an operational sweep of a building in the village of Arnoun. The soldier was hurt by an explosion, the circumstances of which remain under investigation. He was evacuated to a hospital for treatment, and his family was notified.
The ongoing operations are conducted under the command of the 91st Division, with the Givati Brigade actively engaged in counterterrorism efforts in the region. The Israeli military continues to monitor and respond to threats along the Lebanon border amid heightened tensions.
