Six years after Sergeant First Class Amit Ben Yigal was killed, a military court in Samaria has sentenced the terrorist responsible to life imprisonment. The terrorist, Nad'mi Abu Bakr, was convicted of causing death with intent, the equivalent of murder in Judea and Samaria, and obstruction of justice.

According to the ruling, on May 12, 2020, security forces were operating in the village of Ya'bad to arrest wanted individuals. During the operation, Abu Bakr threw a half-brick weighing between nine and 11 kilograms from a rooftop at IDF soldiers, intending to kill them. The brick struck and killed Amit Ben Yigal.

After the incident, Abu Bakr fled to his home and feigned sleep to evade capture. Once the forces left, he returned to the scene, collected the brick fragments, and discarded them to hinder the investigation. On May 11, 2026, the military court convicted Abu Bakr after hearing prosecution witnesses and the defendant's testimony.

On the day of the sentencing, the court ordered Abu Bakr to serve a life sentence and pay over four million shekels in compensation. Sergeant First Class Amit Ben Yigal, 21 at the time of his death, was killed during an operation by the Golani Brigade's reconnaissance unit in Ya'bad. The legal proceedings against his killer have now concluded with this life sentence.
