The Samaria Military Court sentenced Nazmi Abu Bakr to life imprisonment on Thursday for the killing of Sergeant Amit Ben Yigal, a soldier in the Golani Brigade's reconnaissance unit. Ben Yigal died in 2020 during an operational activity in the village of Ya'bad when Abu Bakr dropped a concrete block from a height onto the force. Abu Bakr was convicted of intentional homicide and obstruction of justice. According to the indictment, immediately after the act, Abu Bakr returned home, pretended to be asleep in his children's room to mislead security forces, and later disposed of the block fragments in vegetation to hinder the investigation.
