Netanyahu Details Daring Passenger Intervention Averting Flydubai Plane Disaster

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed details of a harrowing incident aboard a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, describing it as a significant security event. The flight, carrying predominantly Israeli passengers, experienced a critical emergency as it approached Israel. According to Netanyahu, one pilot allegedly stabbed another crew member and attempted to crash the plane with everyone on board.

Netanyahu recounted a conversation with an Israeli passenger who described the aircraft losing control and descending rapidly. This passenger, along with another crew member, reportedly managed to enter the cockpit and subdue the assailant pilot while he was trying to disable the plane's systems. A third crew member then entered the cockpit and successfully stabilized the aircraft.

The Prime Minister lauded the bravery and quick thinking of those who intervened, preventing a potential catastrophe and saving lives. The plane made a safe emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, and all passengers are reported to be unharmed. The alleged assailant pilot was apprehended by Saudi authorities and is currently being interrogated.

Israel is coordinating with Saudi Arabian officials to ensure passenger safety and facilitate their return home. Netanyahu has also instructed security services to prepare for potential further threats as the situation is continuously assessed. Earlier, Transportation Minister Miri Regev had called for a temporary suspension of Flydubai flights to Israel pending the investigation's outcome.
