Netanyahu Praises Flight Heroes, Orders Security Alert After Dubai Air Incident
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a serious security incident that occurred on a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Israel on Wednesday, praising the passengers who intervened and ordering the security establishment to prepare for further potential threats. "This morning there was an extremely serious security event on a flight from Dubai to Israel. Almost all the passengers on the flight were Israelis," Netanyahu stated. He described how, as the plane neared Israel, one pilot stabbed the other, apparently attempting to crash the aircraft with its occupants. Netanyahu lauded the "heroes on the flight from Dubai who showed extraordinary resourcefulness and courage. They saved many lives and prevented a heavy disaster."
The aircraft landed safely in Saudi Arabia, and all passengers were reported to be out of danger. The pilot who carried out the stabbing was arrested and is currently being questioned by Saudi authorities. Netanyahu confirmed ongoing communication with relevant authorities to ensure the passengers' continued safety until their return to Israel. "I have instructed the security establishment to prepare for additional potential threats," Netanyahu concluded, adding that ongoing situation assessments are being conducted and updates will be provided as developments occur.
