Netanyahu: Israel on Alert After Dubai Flight Attack Attempt

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a serious security incident on a Flydubai flight en route to Israel from Dubai on Wednesday, describing it as an attempt to crash the plane. Netanyahu stated that nearly all passengers were Israeli. During the flight, as it neared Israeli airspace, one pilot reportedly stabbed the co-pilot and attempted to crash the aircraft.

Speaking about a conversation with a passenger, Netanyahu recounted that the plane entered a spin and began to dive. The passenger, along with a crew member, managed to enter the cockpit and neutralize the attacking pilot while he was attempting to sabotage the plane's systems. Additional flight crew members then entered the cockpit and stabilized the aircraft.

"I thank these heroes who showed extraordinary resourcefulness and courage. They saved many lives, they prevented a heavy disaster," Netanyahu said, commending the individuals who intervened. The flight landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, and all passengers were unharmed.

Netanyahu confirmed that the suspect pilot was arrested and is currently being interrogated by Saudi authorities. Israel is maintaining continuous contact with relevant authorities to ensure the passengers' continued safety and secure their return home. The Prime Minister has instructed security systems to prepare for further potential threats and stated that ongoing situation assessments are being conducted.
