Flydubai Flight to Tel Aviv Lands in Saudi Arabia After Pilot Brawl

A Flydubai flight en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, carrying over 150 Israeli passengers, triggered a major security scare across the Middle East on Tuesday when it broadcast a distress signal, leading to the scramble of Israeli fighter jets. The aircraft, which had been circling over Jordan, eventually landed in Saudi Arabia. It was later revealed that the emergency signal was activated due to a violent altercation between the pilots onboard.

Initial fears in Israel pointed to a potential hijacking, prompting an urgent security consultation involving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) scrambled fighter jets in response to the distress code, which signifies a hijacking scenario. The situation caused significant tension throughout the region as authorities scrambled to ascertain the nature of the emergency.

Following the landing in Saudi Arabia, accompanied by Saudi fighter jets, it emerged that the pilots had engaged in a physical fight. Reports suggest one pilot may have stabbed the other. The IDF Chief of Staff had also canceled an urgent trip to the United States due to the developing situation.
