Shin Bet Won't Provide Personal Security for Gadi Eisenkot's Party
The "Yashar" party, led by Gadi Eisenkot, announced that the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) will not provide personal security for its leader, despite earlier reports suggesting state protection might be granted. This statement comes just before the Knesset elections scheduled for October 27.
The Shin Bet stated that security measures for all party leaders will differ, including providing intelligence information to their teams and allowing private guards to carry weapons if the party leader wishes. The level of protection will be reassessed based on threat assessments.
Previously, an advisory committee had recommended providing Eisenkot with security until election day. Following this, the Shin Bet leadership assumed responsibility for determining necessary security measures. Eisenkot's party had reported an increase in threats against him, both online and during public appearances.
Gadi Eisenkot, a former IDF Chief of Staff, currently heads the "Yashar" party.
