Shin Bet Won't Guard Gadi Eisenkot, Offers Alternative Security Plan

The Shin Bet security agency will not provide direct security for Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the "Yash!" party and former IDF chief of staff, the party announced Tuesday. The party stated it was informed of the decision on Tuesday, "contrary to publications on the matter and the position of the advisory committee."

This announcement follows the Shin Bet's presentation of a new security framework for all party leaders, developed after a ministerial committee decision. According to the agency, Shin Bet Director David Barnia approved measures to provide security even for party leaders not directly guarded by the Shin Bet.

Under the new plan, Shin Bet intelligence units will monitor threats and assess the situation for all party leaders. Party leaders who hire private security firms may receive authorization for their guards to carry weapons, even without concrete intelligence indicating a specific threat. The Shin Bet's security department will coordinate with party leaders and their private security teams, offering guidance to enhance existing measures.

The agency will conduct periodic assessments to determine the threat level and appropriate security arrangements for each party leader. Therefore, Eisenkot will not receive direct Shin Bet protection at this time. The alternative offered includes intelligence monitoring and professional coordination with private security, along with ongoing threat reassessments.
