Shooting in Montreal Jewish district prompts heavy police response
A shooting in Montreal took place beneath the apartment of Tzippi Tzigerman, an Israeli MDA medic who lives in the city, she told ynet. Tzigerman said she heard gunfire and immediately saw large numbers of police arrive, followed by the army and many helicopters. She said the incident happened in the Jewish area, near a kosher grocery and Chabad.
Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Cohen, Chabad emissary to Montreal, told ynet that one shooter had been detained and a second was apparently still being searched for. He said police brought people from hotels to the Chabad house, where about 100 people were gathered.
