Montreal police declared an active shooting incident on Monday in the Cote-des-Neiges district after reports of gunfire in the area. Authorities urged residents to remain inside, stay away from windows, and avoid the scene while large police forces responded.
The operation began around 11:35 a.m. near the intersection of Trans Island and De Courtray streets, close to a Chabad House. During the response, one police officer was wounded.
Police were still searching for the suspect, and no details were released about the officer’s condition or the circumstances of the shooting.
