Investigative Journalist Raviv Drucker Questioned by Police Over Phone Use While Driving
Investigative journalist Raviv Drucker was summoned for questioning by the police's traffic division on Monday following footage showing him holding a mobile phone while driving. After being questioned, Drucker was released to his home.
The footage, which surfaced several days ago and circulated on social media, originated from a segment aired on the "HaMakor" (The Source) program on Channel 13. Following the video's publication, several complaints were filed against Drucker with the police. Among them, attorney Ilan Bombach filed a complaint on behalf of the Likud party, alleging that Drucker filmed himself using his phone while driving.
The traffic division, however, stated that the complaints filed were not the sole reason for Drucker's summons. Following his interrogation, Drucker was released. The traffic division is now considering how to proceed, with the likely outcome being a fine and penalty points, consistent with penalties for using a mobile phone while driving.
Police regulations prohibit drivers from holding or using a mobile phone while driving unless using a hands-free device. Earlier this year, an increase in penalty points for this offense was also approved.
