Investigative Journalist Raviv Drucker Questioned by Police Over Driving While on Phone

Israeli investigative journalist Raviv Drucker was summoned for questioning by the Traffic Division of the Israel Police on Monday. The investigation stems from a controversial video clip aired as part of a report Drucker himself produced concerning Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu.

The video appears to show Drucker driving a vehicle while holding a mobile phone in one hand and allegedly speaking on it. The summons follows official complaints filed with the police in recent days.

One complaint was lodged by Ilan Bombach, an attorney representing Likud, on behalf of his client Tomer Halperin. The complaint asserts that Drucker violated traffic regulations prohibiting drivers from holding a mobile phone while the vehicle is in motion.

Another complaint was filed last week by social media personality Yevgeny Zarubinsky, who urged the police to enforce the law equally, stating that a person documenting themselves allegedly committing offenses and then publishing the video demonstrates a disregard for the law and sets a poor example for the public. Zarubinsky described the act as life-threatening.

After the video evidence and complaints were reviewed by experts in the Traffic Division, the decision was made to summon Drucker for questioning.
