Israel to Impose West Bank Lockdown During Sukkot Holiday
Defense Minister Israel Katz has ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to impose a general closure on Judea and Samaria, effective immediately, following military recommendations. The closure prohibits Palestinian laborers from entering settlements in the West Bank during the Sukkot holiday and its intermediate days (Chol HaMoed).
However, essential Palestinian workers will be permitted to enter industrial zones in Judea and Samaria, subject to security directives from the Central Command. The directive also states that no exceptional permits will be granted, except for those mandated by state commitments to the High Court of Justice.
