Israel Imposes General Closure on West Bank for Sukkot Holiday
Defense Minister Israel Katz has ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to impose a general closure on the West Bank starting Sunday, coinciding with the Sukkot holiday and its intermediate days (Chol HaMoed). This measure, recommended by the IDF, will prohibit Palestinian laborers from entering Israeli settlements in the West Bank for work during the holiday period.
While the general entry of Palestinian workers into Israeli settlements will be halted, essential workers will be permitted to enter industrial zones in the West Bank, subject to security directives from the Central Command. The directive also stipulates that no exceptional permits will be approved during the closure, with the exception of permits stemming from state commitments made to the High Court of Justice.
