Israel Wins Gymnastics World Championship Gold in Italy

The Israeli national team secured the gold medal in the team competition at the World Acrobatics Championships for adults, held in Pesaro, Italy. Following the preliminary rounds and the combined scores of the top three teams, Israel finished in first place with 88 points, ahead of Russia and the United States, who each scored 81 points.

The Israeli points that led to the gold medal victory were achieved by the women's pair Shiraz Sokolovsky and Roni Cohen, the men's quartet Liyad Madar, Eran Rodnai, Liran Cohen, and Yevgeni Pinchukov, and the women's trio Uri Dekel, Roni Rotman, and Arad Avir Deutsch.

In addition to the team gold, the Israeli delegation had a successful preliminary stage, qualifying for numerous finals. The women's pair Sokolovsky and Cohen qualified for the Dynamic final in second place and also for the Balance final in second place, and topped the All-Around preliminary round. The men's quartet Madar, Rodnai, Cohen, and Pinchukov qualified for the Dynamic final in fourth place and the Balance final in second place, finishing second in the All-Around preliminary.

The women's trio Dekel, Rotman, and Deutsch qualified for the Dynamic final in second place and the combined All-Around final in second place, but will not compete in the Balance final due to a one-team-per-country limit. Another pair, Rotem Wolf and Yotam Kalomel, will serve as first reserves for the Balance final after finishing 11th, and qualified for the Dynamic final in first place and the All-Around final in fifth place. The trio Noam Ronen, Noa Yifrach, and Mari Obadia qualified for the Balance final in fourth place and the All-Around final in third place, but will not compete in the combined All-Around final due to the one-team-per-country rule. Ronen Taler and Chen Benoz finished 12th in the Balance preliminaries and tenth in the All-Around.

Avi Sagie, Chairman of the Israeli Gymnastics Federation, congratulated the team, stating, "What an exciting way to start the Sukkot holiday, with the Israeli flag at the top of the podium at the World Championships. The team gold is an achievement of the entire delegation and a strong sport, reflecting the professional and dedicated work done daily in our clubs. Congratulations to the gymnasts, coaches, and all the teams." He expressed pride and wished them luck for the upcoming finals.
