Police Foil Illegal Camel Race in Negev Desert
Israeli police thwarted an illegal camel race planned for Friday morning in a firing range area in the Negev desert, near Route 222 and the Bir Hadaj region. Acting on intelligence, police forces raided the site before the race could begin, encountering vehicles, carts, and participants arriving. Officers from the southern district, including the Shagav Shalom station, Yoav unit, Border Police, and the National Guard, with aerial support, participated in the operation. As police entered the area, vehicles dispersed. Two minors, who police stated attempted to flee and hide in bushes near a camel, were apprehended. They were detained for further investigation at the Shagav Shalom station, and the camel was seized.
