Israeli Gazelle Found Held Illegally in West Bank Village, Suspect Arrested

During a joint operation overnight Sunday in the West Bank village of A-Ram, Israeli Border Police and Nature and Parks Authority inspectors located a young Israeli gazelle held in violation of the law. The operation was based on intelligence from the Border Police Coastal Unit and involved officers from the Central Unit of the Border Police Coastal Division, Border Police fighters from Judea and Samaria, and Nature and Parks Authority inspectors from the Civil Administration's Nature Reserves Division.

The protected wild animal was seized and transferred to the Nature and Parks Authority for medical treatment at the Ramat Gan Safari's wildlife hospital. Israeli gazelles are protected species, and their possession or hunting is a serious offense under the Wildlife Protection Law.

A 48-year-old suspect from the nearby village of Kafr Aqab was detained for questioning by the Nature and Parks Authority. He faces charges related to illegal trade, possession, and hunting of a protected wild animal. Police and the Nature and Parks Authority emphasized their ongoing commitment to combating illegal possession, breeding, hunting, and trade of protected wildlife in accordance with the law.
