Israeli Police Arrest Two Hebron Residents Smuggling 60 Protected Birds Attached to Their Legs

In a joint operation involving police from the Gilad region, Allenby Bridge security, and Nature and Parks Authority inspectors, two men in their 20s from Hebron were arrested on suspicion of attempting to smuggle 60 protected birds into Israel. The birds were concealed by being attached to the suspects' legs, which raised the suspicion of border inspectors who alerted the authorities. During the inspection, the birds were discovered, leading to the suspects' detention.

Further investigation revealed that one suspect's mobile phone contained images of him holding firearms. Both suspects were transferred to the Gilad police station for continued interrogation and subsequently incarcerated. The Israeli police emphasized their ongoing commitment to preventing crimes against natural values and addressing all suspicions of criminal, security offenses, and illegal possession of weapons in cooperation with all enforcement and security agencies.
