Israeli Police Arrest Illegal Gaza Resident Found With Suspected Drugs in Northern Israel

Northern District traffic police stopped a vehicle near Kfar Baruch on Route 73 for a routine check due to a broken headlight. During the inspection, officers detected a strong smell of drugs from the driver's side and discovered a bag containing suspected narcotics in the car door. The driver, a 30-year-old resident of Nazareth, was questioned alongside his passenger, who initially claimed to be an Israeli resident.

Further investigation revealed the passenger was actually a 35-year-old man from Gaza staying illegally in Israel without permits. Upon this discovery, police formally arrested him on suspicion of illegal entry. Body camera footage shows the dramatic arrest, including the suspect breaking down in tears inside the police vehicle, pleading in Arabic to be returned home.

Following a thorough investigation by the Northern District prosecution unit in Nazareth, formal charges were filed against the Gaza resident. The Nazareth driver is also expected to face criminal charges for transporting an illegal resident and possession of suspected drugs. The Israeli police stated their commitment to combating illegal entry and residence in the country using all available legal and operational measures.
